Convert Subject Name to Subject Code

There are a number of techniques to do this-

1. Include the subject code at the end of the full subject name.

Subject codes will have to be the same length, e.g., 6 characters

Use the =right() function in Excel to strip out the code.

2. Use the =vlookup function in Excel to look up subject name and return subject code.

3. Use a database like Microsoft Access, to link subject Full name to Subject Code.

4. It is possible to write simple scripts within Google Forms, which will do the conversion - i need some time to learn how to do this.

If you have any other ideas please post your suggestion

Check the Yr 11 example that students have not selected the same subject twice

When subjects are imported into a timetabling package, the package wont import same subject twice for a student. So in your timetabling package look for students who have less subjects, this may indicate they have chosen the same subject twice.

Check the Yr 12 example that students have not selected different subjects as the same preference

You can manually check this, otherwise it is probably best to wait for Google to create a GRID type question that does not allow this.
